Role Overview
A global renewable energy investment platform is seeking a Power Plant Investment Director / Manager to lead investment execution and asset-level financial management for U.S.-based power generation projects. The role will focus on solar and energy storage assets and will play a key part in expanding the firm's U.S. footprint while coordinating closely with international stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Investment & Project Evaluation
• Lead investment sourcing, evaluation, and due diligence for U.S.-based power generation projects, including solar PV and energy storage.
• Build and own detailed financial models, investment return analyses, and project feasibility studies.
• Assess project economics under various market, regulatory, and incentive-driven scenarios.
Transaction Structuring & Execution
• Structure and execute investment transactions, including equity investments, joint ventures, tax equity, and project-level financing.
• Lead commercial negotiations and support execution of key agreements such as PPAs, interconnection agreements, EPC contracts, and O&M agreements.
• Manage relationships with internal teams, developers, lenders, investors, and advisors through closing.
Post-Investment Asset & Financial Management
• Oversee post-investment financial performance, tracking key metrics such as cost per kWh, O&M expenses, revenues, and cash flow.
• Conduct operational and financial analysis in partnership with asset management and operations teams to identify performance optimization and cost reduction opportunities.
• Prepare annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and ongoing variance analyses for operating assets.
Capital Allocation & Reinvestment Analysis
• Evaluate reinvestment opportunities including upgrades, expansions, repowering initiatives, and add-on acquisitions.
• Build IRR, NPV, and sensitivity models to support capital deployment and reinvestment decisions.
Reporting & Cross-Border Coordination
• Prepare regular investment and performance reporting for senior leadership and international stakeholders.
• Coordinate across U.S. and overseas teams to ensure alignment on strategy, assumptions, and decision-making.
• Support leadership presentations and investment committee materials.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Energy, Engineering, or a related discipline; CPA, CFA, or similar designation preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in power generation or renewable energy investment within the U.S. market.
• Strong working knowledge of U.S. electricity markets, including PPA negotiations, interconnection processes, project finance, tax equity structures, and Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) incentives.
• Demonstrated track record of executing and closing complex power or renewable energy transactions.
• Advanced financial modeling and valuation skills with the ability to independently assess risk and returns.
• Experience managing the financial performance of operating power assets; operational or financial business partner experience is a plus.
• Fluent in English; professional-level Mandarin Chinese strongly preferred.
• Willingness to support cross-border collaboration and international travel as required.
